0830, camping Hosteria del Paine, Torres del Paine. Wrecked, lazy, slow. Let´s take it easy today. This thursday we will take our plane back home, so there is no rush.

1200, camping Hosteria del Paine, Torres del Paine. In fact, we couldn´t. After we finished baking pancakes this morning, we packed our bags and prepared for the two-o´clock transfer to the park gate. After all, better spending the evening in a club than on the campground, isn´t it?

1700, Omar´s lodge, Puerto Nalales. Being the last to get out of the bus in Natales, the driver askes us where to go next. He might drop us off somewhere in the village if need to. Well, having eight enourmous bags with the four of us, we are glad to accept his offer. Ronald gives directions to the bus driver, and five minutes later we are unloading our bags at our destination. Omar, the owner of the lodge we are going to stay these days to come, is standing by, wandering what the hell we have been doing with all that equipment..

0200, Il Templo, Puerto Natales. Of course, we heavily abused our first night back in civilisation. We ate loads of fries and chicken, drank pints of beer, ordered sour pisco´s and went from bar to club. It all ended up in a massively filled disco, where we showed the crowd how to dance on salsa-house music. It was only until the day after when I sobered up and started wondering where the hell all those people came from? After all, this is Puerto Natalis, not Amsterdam...

The next day I went on-line in a cybar to mail my friends and to check conditions. Of course it is still february, and over in Europe icefalls still seem to be in good shape. Will there be some left for me when I get back in Chamonix?

Men! They only seem to be thinking of one thing:

Climbing..

back to expeditions

welcome to saturday 12th of february
